Sartre and Nietzsche V Marx

Our discussion between Sartre, Nietzsche and Marx made it very clear to me that Marx is the oddball. While Sartre was in favor of the subjects having the freedom to choose where to work, the point supported Nietzsche more than Marx's theory. Nietzsche believed the weakness of the poor was the very reason they couldn't do anything about their situation. Marx's theory can only prove so much. In the end, communism has failed and is not a good example of what the people want. Nietzsche's theory captures the essence of what society is today. One can also argue that capitalism is the core reason this country has flourished. Although Marx might disagree, poor people have the ability to pursue upward mobility and that is what is so great about capitalism. The rags to riches stories exemplify the strength required to surpass other people in status. All of our great innovations have been a result of strong, authoritative leaders who made these innovations come to fruition. If these leaders were weak, iphones, cars, Microsoft, couldn't have been built or created. The end justifies the means. People have the will to change their present and future. Nietzsche and Sartre would agree.

  1. Nietzsche and Sartre would agree that our society grew because of the strong and rich. We wouldn't win wars or invent new things if everyone was weak.

  2. I do agree with Marx on many of his thoughts about capitalism in that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. The idea that people can become rich by hard work is not really true. There is a situation in this country of third generation poverty. People born into third generation poverty many times do not have food or access to healthcare. When you struggle to eat and have healthcare it is almost impossible to work yourself out of this. Third generation poverty us something most of us are unfamiliar with and do not have experience with, but I do think capitalism keeps these members of our society down and unless there are more opportunities for teaching and helping these members hard work will not make it go away.
