Catfsih?

I have watched the show and this movie many a times and each time its still aggravating watching it happen to Nev. And that Nev just lets it happen to him even after he figures it all out. I understand that they were doing this for a documentary but the emotional toll it ended up having on Nev and Angela both is unsettling. At one point, Angela talks in Megan's voice for Nev and he is seen to be sad at the sound of her voice coming from Angela.
Angela's reasonings for why she has all of these facebook profiles made me sympathize for her because of how unsatisfied she is with her life. She feels that becoming all these different people on facebook gives her almost a second chance or a feeling of the life she wanted to have. But, in doing so, she created a lot of hurt. Nev going out there and exposing her made her realize what she has done and also made people more aware of how easy it is to fake yourself on the internet.

  1. Yeah Nev did look sad and hopeless after knowing he been tricked. But I was glad to see that he didn't verbally attack her for her actions. Nev, I believe, knew that something was wrong with Angela that goes beyond the idea that she was dissatisfied with her life.

  2. I initially sympathized with her until I thought into it deeper. After all the energy she put into faking it, at some point she had opportunity to come clean about what she was doing. She allowed him to figure out. I believe she would not have ever said anything if he did not figure it out.

  3. She knew that she was going to get caught at one point. Even though she was so unsatisfied with her life there are more things to do than to fake being someone else, like Zumba-ing. I don't think she understood how many people could get hurt, or what damage it would cost to the other person. I do feel bad for Nev to a point. I understand that instant messenger was a new thing and that people just trusted that the internet would not lie. Nev should of picked up on some things sooner but because he liked the idea of this attractive, artistic, and fun loving girl liking him that he did not question anything.

  5. I sympathize for her too at the beginning but I agree with Darrah. She had the chance to explain and tell the truth but she continued to lie. I feel like Nev would have been more sympathetic to her if she would have came out and told the truth when he first confronted her about it. My favorite part was that he did not humiliate her because she lied.

  6. I did initially sympathize with her at first. You can't toy with people's emotions just because you are not happy with your life. Even though she was not happy I couldn't bring myself to make up an excuse for her actions.

  7. I did find myself feeling bad for Nev as well. At first I sympathized with Angela as well. However, as time went on I started to sympathize with her less and less since I do think it's unacceptable to trick someone like that. However, I do still feel a small amount of sympathy for her since she seemed so unhappy with her life.

  8. Angela just wouldn't let the story end. She tried so hard to save the virtual relationship she made by telling lie after lie. However, I don't at all sympathize with Nev, not after the end. I think in the back of his mind he just wanted it all to go back to the way it was.
