Two of the greatest Philosophers In Time
This week in class we discussed Socrates and Aristotle and their theory's, methods of life and life within itself. I'm talking two great minds, first I want to tell you what I think about their ethics and why I think it. First I'm going to start with Aristotle, a Teleology who believed that an idea has no power to produce the corresponding concrete: meaning that an idea simply cannot produce character or function clearly. This is so true! Don't quote me wrong, its good to have ideas but if you don't put the idea into action then that's all you will have is an idea. Now Plato believes that the ideas or forms are the only true objects of study that can provide us with genuine knowledge; in other words; IT GOT TO BE THOUGHT OF FIRST BEFORE IT CAN BE MANIFESTED INTO SOMETHING. Once you have thought it up then it will be up to you to put it to action. Okay now Aristotle believes that metaphysical power and action achieve an outcome of complete development governed by design of building (mind), building made of(physical aspects), building purpose(end use), and designers; builders;users of building. This sounds like stability to me and I can agree with Aristotle 100% but this still is and was an idea first, that's all I'm saying. Have any ever heard the saying ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS! yeah it does. Socrates who was a Epistemology who studied Ontology; So now check out what Socrates believe umhun he believed that true knowledge/intelligence is the ability to grasp the world of forms with one's mind. In other words get your mind right and then the rest will follow, let me explain this so you won't be confused; your mind is your head or brain and without the head your body can't function but cut off a arm or a foot you still can live but again cut the head off the body I guarantee you'll die. Now let me give an example: I knew this man who was a drug addict he was truly strung out on drugs, he was very unstable but he kept a good job, he was a welder and he made something like $21.00 an hour (true story). This man was on drugs for about 30 years. During the 30 years he couldn't keep a place to stay, he moved from city to city and one time his sister let him come stay with her because she was trying to help him but as soon as she went off to work he sold everything in her house I'm mean everything, she was hurt in deed. He died about a year ago from hepatitis c but before he died he gave his life to Jesus Christ and for two years he was sober he stop using drugs and he changed and not just because he was dying but because he made his mind up. If he could have did it from the beginning he probably would still be living he would have gotten some help. Even though we see Socrates and Aristotle difference; they were a lot alike, its how you apply their theory's and methods to one's life. Me personally would use both of them in the area that fits my life. They both broke down to us what it takes to be, if we could combine them in order I believe it would make an extraordinary human-being. They were truly great thinkers! In
